About the project
Project Description
The eMATES project addresses the digital divide experienced by adult migrants by empowering second-language (L2) educators with innovative methods and resources to teach language (A1, A2, B1 levels) in conjunction with e-government skills. By co-developing strategies with educators, the project aims to enhance migrants’ autonomy and integration through language and digital literacy.
Project Impact
The project is designed to create a lasting and transformative impact across multiple levels of adult education and migrant integration. By bridging the gap between language learning and digital literacy, the initiative will empower both educators and learners with essential skills for today’s increasingly digital society. For language teachers, the project offers comprehensive training and innovative tools to effectively incorporate e-government concepts into their lessons, ultimately enhancing their professional competencies and teaching methodologies. Migrant learners will benefit directly through improved access to and understanding of crucial digital services, enabling them to navigate administrative processes with greater confidence and autonomy.
Beyond individual skill development, eMates will contribute to systemic improvements in adult education. The project’s practical toolbox of digital inclusion materials will serve as a valuable resource for language schools and adult education centers, promoting more effective and relevant instruction. By establishing a dedicated digital learning platform, the initiative will create safe spaces for experimentation and practice, leading to measurable changes in how migrants engage with online services.
The ripple effects of this work will extend to the broader community as well. As participating institutions adopt and adapt eMates resources, the project will inspire wider implementation of its innovative approaches. This collective progress will help build more inclusive societies where migrants are better equipped to participate fully in digital civic life. Through its multifaceted approach, eMates represents a significant step forward in addressing the interconnected challenges of language acquisition, digital literacy, and social integration.
The project’s comprehensive evaluation framework will track these impacts through qualitative and quantitative measures, ensuring that outcomes are meaningful, sustainable, and scalable. By documenting and sharing lessons learned, eMates will contribute valuable knowledge to the field of adult education and migrant integration across Europe.
